Welcome Back!!!

 

I hope that the school year has gotten off to a great start for your family. On behalf of the entire staff at Grissom Elementary, I would like to welcome you to another exciting, educational year. I am looking forward to the educational opportunities your child will experience this year. It is a privilege to work with your child and family.  Each of our staff members look forward to getting to know your child and family better as the year progresses.

 

It was encouraging to see so many families at Back to School Night. We had a good turnout and I would like to thank you for coming out to meet our staff!

 

Communication is a vital ingredient for a successful school year. Our monthly newsletter is an important communication tool to get information from school to your home. Please take time to read it each month and note the activities taking place in our school. Also consistently check out the Grissom Elementary website.  We are working hard to update it frequently with lots of important information and fun pictures of events at school.  If at anytime you have a question pertaining to your child’s classroom, please feel free to contact their teacher. In addition, Mrs. Andrews, our counselor, and myself are always available to answer your questions or discuss any concerns. Together we will have a great school year!

What sets us apart...

  • Grissom is part of Oklahoma's A+ School program.
  • Fine Arts opportunities are abundant at Grissom elementary.  
    From art and music classes taught during the school week, 
    to extracurricular classes taught by volunteer artists and musicians,
    students have many opportunities to express their talents and creativity.
  • In the Spring, the Grissom Arts Fest is an exciting event for Grissom students, parents, faculty, and community show casing their creative works.      
  • Joe LaMantia, a visiting artist, worked with students and community to create sculptures for the inside and outside of the school.  The one outside is named Harmony .
  • Grissom has received a technology grant from OKActs and theTechnology Trust of Oklahoma.
  • Grissom participates in a Chinese/Cultural Studies program.
