Welcome to Grissom!
At Grissom Elementary School, we make sure our students have the support they need to be their best selves every day. We start the day with community circles where students and teachers come together to build strong, trusting relationships that are foundational to great learning experiences. Through multi-age community meetings, our students learn the value of emotions, communication, and relationships. They learn to practice self-regulation and care for self and others. This happens through daily arts experiences, high academic expectations with abundant support, and a culture of community that emphasizes safety, teamwork, attitude, respect, and responsibility.
Grissom offers:
- A growing and lively school community. Our enrollment continues to increase with our growing Montessori initiative.
- A full-time teacher for gifted and talented students. Over 20% of Grissom students are being served through the program for gifted and talented.
- A variety of extracurricular activities, including the 101 Mile Running Club, Changemakers, Sistema Tulsa, Student Council, Safety Patrol, Theatre Arts, and Tulsa Debate League.
Public Montessori School
As a public Montessori school, we believe all students benefit from child-centered learning. Students learn best when they are self-motivated, work both collaboratively and independently, and self-correct. This is supported by the guidance of adults who care about the students and their success. These opportunities are evident in clubs, extracurricular opportunities, and STEAM activities both in the classroom and the library. As a result, students learn self-control, self-discipline, and are inspired to work out of joy, curiosity, and a love of learning. A child-centered environment focuses on creating lifelong learners and self-motivated adults that realize their vision for the future and enrich the lives of others.

Recognized as a demonstration school in Oklahoma’s A+ school network, we value the arts as essential to culture and to living. Performing and visual arts are essential parts of students’ learning and experience and are integrated throughout our classrooms and throughout every school day.
