Parent Resources

Parental involvement is a combination of commitment and active participation on the part of parent to the school and to the student. As parents you can ensure that your child receives the benefits from parental involvement by staying up to date on what is happening in the classroom.

Tulsa Public Schools is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he or she needs to succeed in school and beyond. As a result, these involvement opportunities empower parents to take action. By connecting parents to school officials, community members, other parents, knowledge, and powerful allies, these opportunities build bridges and networks that support schools and sustain whole communities.

Get involved at grissom by joining our PTA

Volunteer

We love our volunteers at Grissom! They do more to help our students and staff than you can imagine. ALL volunteers, including field trip chaperones, must complete an application so they may be screened.

Space for volunteers on field trips is sometimes limited. Whether volunteers are allowed to ride the bus with students will be determined on a trip-by-trip basis by the teachers and administration. Volunteer chaperones are usually welcome to drive themselves to the destination to help supervise children, unless we’ve been advised that space at the venue is extremely limited.

Volunteer forms must be returned a minimum of 24 hours before the event you plan on participating on with the student. You only have to fill out the form once for the school year for all students you have at Grissom.

After LEarning Program

Grissom is part of Tulsa Public Schools After Learning Program.  We offer a safe, educational, and fun environment for your child.  When your child attends the program, he/she will have the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge they are learning during the school day as they explore their interests in math, science, reading, physical activity, and art.

The program also provides full day option when school is not in session for fall, winter, and spring breaks.  Full day programs may be provided at an alternate school.
