Learning in the library is happening in our MakerSpaces. We are using STEAM activities to enhance the curriculum. One of the activities we have done was repurposing broken crayons into an art piece by melting the crayon and laminating the art work. Our youngest students experience this after working in the classroom about recycling and reading the book “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” by Elizabeth Thomas in the library. STEAM activities with Knex, Osmos, Ozobots, Stikbots, Little Bits, Robots Dash and Dot, Coding activities as well as art projects are spread throughout the library and used to connect to our curriculum. Our Story Room doubles as our green screen so that we can change our background in videos. In addition students can ask to use our tablets that are Launchpads by Playaway. These tablets come preloaded with Math and Science Apps.
The mission of the Tulsa Public Schools' Library Media Services is to promote the skills, experiences, and confidence that will enable children and young adults to use libraries and information resources for lifelong learning.
